Over the top accessory was dominant on the runway this season at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive’14. Not only jewellery designers showcased their unusual baubles but fashion designers too incorporated the over the top jewellery in their collection.
Designer duo Shantanu and Nikhil used the almost Mohawk like jeweled headgear,the facial ornaments and lavish jewellery while he showcased his ‘Himalayan Couture Collection.On the other hand designer Amit Aggarwal adding further drama to his collection accessorized the look with extended butterfly shaped ear cuffs.
Going the over dramatic route with intricate designs was jewellery designer Suhani Pittie who showcased some innovative pieces from her ‘Found and Lost’ collection.
Earbuttons,earcuffs,jeweled harness,shoulder cuffs and the bold giant 3D rose motifs were some of the pieces which grabbed enough eye-balls from Suhani’s collection.
After her 'Chairs and Thrones' collection jewellery designer Mrinalini Chandra blew us out this time with her ‘Shakuntala’ collection.Known for her impeccable designs Mrinalini’s collection was a huge hit this season too.Size was important for the designer as huge leaves circled the neck and wrists,while butterfly motifs were turned into enormous necklaces.She ended the show with a fish link shawl draped over one shoulder of the model.
Lastly, for women who dream of looking like a mythical goddesses showered in jewels,'The Column’ collection by Kaabia and Sasha Grewal for their label ‘Outhouse’ made it a reality.
Giving the ‘Maang Tikka’ a new look with a feel of a Mohawk-like design that rose in curves on the head of the models was something that we have never witnessed on the runway.Body Harnesses,ornate cropped gloves,windmill inspired earcuffs,leather/tassel shoulder dusters were this seasons show stopping collections.
