In countries like India, Sri Lanka, Thailand coconut oil has always been used extensively and now more and more people from the west have taken a keen interest on the benefits of the coconut oil. Here is why you should start using as well.

1. Protects against damaged hair

For generations, it has been known that coconut oil helps in your hair growth and protects it from damaging. It helps in reducing the protein loss, which leads to unattractive qualities in our hair and studies also show that the oil provides better protection from the damaged caused by hyral fatigue. 

2. Acts as mouthwash

This may come as a surprise to many but coconut oil also acts as a teeth whitener, makes your breath fresher and leads to improvement in oral health. A process called oil pulling; an ancient practice is done, which kills the harmful bacteria in our mouth. Why not go ahead with this, if you are looking for a new remedy. 

3. Wards off wrinkles

It is not an unknown fact that the coconut oil acts as a moisturizer to all skin type but did you know it also delays the appearance of wrinkles and sagging of the skin due to its well-known antioxidant properties. If you are prone to acne avoid this technique but at night, gently rub the oil on your face and neck giving it a gentle message and rinse it off  with your favorite cleanser and see the transformation.

Studies have shown that coconut oil not only helps in reducing appetite and increases fat burning but it also helps in loosing weight, especially abdominal fat, which is highly related with western diseases. One may not see a drastic change but it definitely takes off that excess weight. So, why not incorporate coconut oil into your food?    

5. Functions as a sunscreen 

Yes, coconut oil does act as a mild sunscreen as well. It has been proven that the oil block 20% of the suns ultra violet rays and also keeps your skin hydrated. You can always mix your natural sunscreen with coconut oil for that extra protection.
