Deepika Padukone opens up on her crush for Vin Diesel on Ellen's Show

After Priyanka Chopra, it was the turn of Indian beauty Deepika Padukone to rock ‘hallowed’ The Ellen Show. The leggy lass looked every bit classy in her white dress and loose wavy tresses. Though she was there to promote her film with xXx: Return of Xander Cage with which she makes her Hollywood debut, Dippy talked about almost everything from her childhood, to career, to ahem, her crush on her co-star Vin Diesel.

Ellen started the show by asking her about Deepika’s father Prakash Padukone’s badminton career, and Deepika spoke of it proudly, “He played at a time in India when nobody really played professional badminton... everybody wanted to become a doctor or a lawyer, (but he was a sportsperson).” Ellen, like others, wondered if the Padukones hadn't wanted her to follow in her father's footsteps? "It would have made him happy,” she said, “but he always said, follow your heart. Also, I knew by the time that I was 16 that I wanted to be an actress. And that being in front of the camera made me very, very happy”.

Deepika started her Bollywood career with Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Om Shanti Om. It was a big hit, and since then Deepika has never looked back. Ellen also quizzed her about all the rumours about her chemistry with Diesel to which she replied, “Well, there’s no smoke without fire.” She made a joke about her crush too. “It’s all in my head!" Deepika said, laughing. "So in my head I think, like yeah, we are together and we have this amazing chemistry, and we live together and we have these amazing babies! But it’s all in my head.”

Later, the actress revealed how she was offered the film. “I actually auditioned for ‘Fast and Furious 7’ about two-three years ago but for whatever reason that didn’t work out. And I think people remember me from that audition. And then, about a year ago, I get a call from Paramount Pictures saying they are casting for this film and so I flew down and met director DJ Caruso.”

And until Diesel put this picture up on Instagram, sans a caption nonetheless, she had no clue that she'd been selected. She even told him, "I do hope you know that if you put that snap up, it means I am doing this movie. He still didn’t say anything!”
