5 steps to give your skin a post-vacation glow
Yes! You have had a lovely time on the beach – taking in the sun and sipping on your martini – without having to meet work deadlines and hence, away from all the stress. This vacation has been for your soul, not so much for your skin though.
After all the late nights on your vacation - way past your bed time - you need your beauty sleep. This is the best way to give some rest to your tired skin and to help replenish its complexion. For the first week sleep early and get at least 8-10 hours of sleep daily. Fall into a consistent sleep pattern; your well-rested skin will look luminous and healthy.
Swear off alcohol and caffeine and switch back to water –Yes, at least for the first week. Alcohol and caffeine both cause dehydration and strip your skin off its natural oil making it look and feel like a raisin. So, drink lots of water and add lemon wedges or cucumber slices – if you need a change in taste. Hydrated skin increases the elasticity of the skin, leaving it soft and supple.
Buff away the dead skin and the toxins that have built up a layer on your body– make sure not to over-exfoliate. You can use stuff in your kitchen to make homemade exfoliants; just mix coconut oil with brown sugar and gently rub all over your face and body, it will leave your skin looking bright and healthy.
During your vacation you have been out in the day, basking in the sun and taking in fresh air, but too much exposure to natural elements causes the breakdown of your skin cells and collagen. So, take that moisturiser and slap it onto your face and body as moisturisers have antioxidants to repair those damaged skin cells and to help with collagen production nursing your skin back to life.
Sweat it out! Flush all the toxins out of your body. Take a regular jog every morning or hit the gym; have a workout regime. Your body needs to detoxify itself from within to give your skin a healthy glow.
