This year at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014 in Mumbai designer Masaba Gupta and Amit Aggarwal opened the show with some fantastic festive line collection.
Masaba’s “Wanderess” collection inspired by renowned poet Roman Payne’s character Saskia and goan woman had a very vintage 1960’s look which dominantly saw fabrics like satin,jersey,crepe and scuba.
Saris with the characteristic Masaba print in white,yellow brown were teamed up with long sleeved black/white leaf print blouse. Flared minis,thigh length jacket with flared pants,cut out sari gown were some of the styles that we witnessed in her collection.Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty closed the show for Masaba in a slinky black printed cut-out gown with an attached dupatta drape.
On the other hand the avant garde designer Amit Aggarwal presented his innovative collection which revolved around a dark romantic theme. Mysterious entries of models in black,red,deep blue veils and tassels added to the drama and intrigue of his collection.The designer opened the show with variety of jackets with fish tails,moulded and pleated sari gowns and an emphasis on draped wide balloon sleeves for the exotic creations. Gorgeous Sushmita Sen scorched the ramp for the designer in a black striped,fitted, draped gown.
