Trend Report: Best of New York Fashion Week SS'17
Setting the trends straight for the upcoming season of spring summer’17, New York Fashion Week recently concluded a rather successful week of fashion extravaganza. While big players like Tom Ford and Tommy Hilfiger displayed in-season lineups, there were Proenza Schouler and Ralph Lauren to further the ‘See Now, Buy Now’ trend, rolling out their prêt wear collection for the sun-kissed season.
Talking about such new styles, we identified these fashion trends at the NYFW SS'17.
Bring back the 70’s magic in their collections, designers this year rolled out gorgeous pieces layered with ruffles. Tiered one up on the other, the ruffle detailing on the shoulders, the collars, waist and the skirt hemlines, quite did the magic for most transporting them to the initial days of summer. Some in bold colours and some on floral printed fabrics, ruffles was an element we spotted on most of the ramp shows at the fashion week.
Not in Symmetry
Why keep it straight, when the asymmetrical silhouette can enhance the beauty of the outfit better. This is exactly what we got to hear from Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez designers of Proenza Schouler who presented a lineup of stunning uneven hemline outfits on the ramp. Creating a kaleidoscopic moment with their zigzag prints on the outfits, the collection sashayed in bold colours complemented the handkerchief-cut silhouette perfectly.
Shine it All
Seems like this spring summer, the world is going to shine to its fullest. From Sies Marjan showcasing a mix of satin and taffeta in its asymmetrical ensembles to Tory Burch’s sequined detailing on floral dresses and finally Jeremy Scott and Marc Jacobs leather finished rock n roll culture bling outfits, addressed the introduction of this trend for the spring’17.
The Leather Entourage
Branding the versatility of fabrics, this season brands like Victoria Beckham, Jeremy Scott, Tory Burch and Tommy Hilfiger demonstrated infused winter fabrics in their spring summer collection. From leather jackets and boots by Victoria Beckham and Tommy Hilfiger to the BDSM inspired gothic looks put together by Jeremy Scott, the fashion week stunned audience with the usage of this winter staple.
Don’t you discard those knee touching boots already, as the spring summer ’17 trendsetting designers are furthering it to the next season? From Victoria Beckham to Hood by Air and DKNY paired reinterpreted versions of the boots with their ready-to-wear summer outfits. From denim makeovers to embellished ankle tops and classic boots in pastel shades, the spring ’17 trend book is celebrating the boots with great pomp.
Bagging It Right
Designers this season added unique bag styles to their collection. While Oscar de la Renta complemented his floral outfits with similar printed clutches and bags, Victoria Beckham enhanced the loop further in a pouch version. Even brands like Hugo Boss added woven handles to the classic tote and Michael Kors ruffled up clutch bags in bold colours. So in all, New York Fashion Week was a visual catalogue of statement bags for the spring-summer ’17.
