7 Ways to propose your man for marriage before he does: Break the rule
They were friends, they were in love and then the proposal was made. But this time it was different. Breaking the stereotype, London-based Priya Gill decided to take things in her hands and proposed her boyfriend of three years, Vishal Misal, over a lovely date, meal and with a ring. “After Vishal and I finished our three-course meal, we toasted to our relationship. I reached into my bag and pulled out a box which I placed in front of him. He opened the box which contained a ring - he was speechless,” says Priya.
Of course, he was over the moon. "She blew my mind! It was surreal and incredibly emotional. The fact that she proposed changed everything,” Vishal shares his experience. But while Priya went the traditional ‘man-made’ way of proposing, you can try some more fun and quirky tricks to make him say ‘I do’.
On the lake
Take your man who can’t swim in the middle of the lake and pop the question, you can always threaten to push him off the raft if he says no (just kidding!). However, be sure that he will say yes if you don’t want to jump yourself.
What better way to propose than giving clues and hints, that too, which he will understand! Be romantic and try not making the hints either very easy or difficult. Keep the mystery till the end.
If your man is into computer games he will surely love this one. You can either make a sketch of Mario hopping off to ‘Will you marry me’ or simply show the ring in his hand. Mission accomplished.
Over a dessert
This may sound a bit cliché but the truth is men love food, good food. Set his mood by cooking his favourite cuisines, and then place the ring either in the mousse or pie. He’ll love it.
Big screen stunt
If you’re brave and confident enough, you can take him to a game of his choice and arrange to put the question on the big screen. Yeah, it’s a very guy thing, but don’t forget boys too like some show of love now and then!
No, we aren’t talking about embalming the question on the outside of he mug. The idea is to take him out (or invite him home) for coffee in a mug which will ask the question in the inside base. As soon as the coffee is over, you can get the answer.
Trails and trips
If you both are planning a trip together this is your chance to show the ring. You can ask him to be yours for the rest of his life while watching Thames from London Eye, or gazing at Eiffel Tower, or even riding a bike on the rocky roads of Ladakh.
